1. Can we arrest people?
Answer: No we have no authority to arrest a person. When were at an event however, if the person is a hazard risk for us, themselves, or any of the public we can briefly detain them till the regular Police arrive.
2. If I go out of the city can I still aid with the local authorities?
Answer: No we are to only assist with the Connellsville Police Department when they notify us to do so.
3. What is expected of me if I join?
Answer: We expect all of our members to attend all meetings, events, and participate in all fundraisers as possible. It is a volunteer organization but we expect a full commitment.
4. What all do you provide me with if I become a member?
Answer: We supply our members with Uniform Pants, Uniform Shirt, Uniform Coat (Winter/Summer), Uniform Hat (Winter/Summer), and a Badge.
5. Maybe I am a Fireman? At parades who should I rather represent?
Answer: We need as much help as possible when it comes to parades. We expect you to help us during them.
6. Are we allowed to carry guns?
Answer: No we are not permitted to use and/or carry firearms on duty.
7. Do we get our own radio?
Answer: Only the Line Officers are assigned there own radios. When you join you are given a radio number. When attending our events you are to get a radio, if available, from our office and sign it out and after we are finished you are to sign it back in.
8. Can I drive around looking for criminals?
Answer: No we are not allowed to handle crimes. Occasionally the Connellsville P.D does arrange "Ride A Longs" with us so we can patrol with them.
9. If I see a crime being committed can I take care of it?
Answer: No you are not allowed to act on it yourself. If you do see a crime you are to call 911 like any other citizen.
